dspmbyte variable in tcsh

Hello, everybody,

It is said in this page 

	http://www.tcsh.org/tcsh.html/Special_shell_variables.html

that if one uses "set dspmbyte=big5", it enables display and editing
Big5(Chinese) code. We tried but seemingly it does not work. Does anybody
know what is happening?

Does it require BIG5 fonts pre-installed? Or is it still work fine without
the fonts library?
